season four
the restaurants

The Rooftop by JG
Beverly Hills, California

Sitting atop the 12 stories of the Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria, “The Rooftop by JG” features stunning panoramic views to enjoy while diving into truly delicious California fare. Jean Georges Vongerichten’s menu boasts fresh sushi, caviar, a lobster cheeseburger, and a variety of decadent desserts certain to satisfy any sweet tooth. Diners can grab fresh cocktails from the bar (like the spicy ginger margarita) as they take in the kaleidoscope colored sunset views. While enjoying tuna tartare and lobster burgers in the chic styled rooftop garden, Emmanuel Acho discusses his successful football career and how a pivotal moment changed his trajectory forever and made racial reconciliation his true calling.

Brindille
Chicago, IL.

Within the elegant dining room of this River North bistro, diners feast upon refined French dishes, desserts, and perhaps an espresso martini. Cousins Carrie and Michael Nahabedian opened Brindille as a nod and celebration to their favorite spots in Paris, along with acclaimed pastry chef Craig Harzewski, named “Pastry Chef of the Year” by the Chicago Tribune. While the menu sees slight seasonal tweaks, staples such as foie gras and duck breast l'apicius delight guests all year long. It’s no wonder that celebrated architect Jeanne Gang chose this beautiful Chicago gem to reflect upon her memorable and historic journey thus far and her plans to continue to inspire through architecture.

White Horse Tavern
New York City

Once a gathering place for writers and social movement organizers, “The White Horse Tavern” continues to serve the New York community as an institution to celebrate, commiserate, and enjoy comforting pub fare. As the second oldest pub in the city, the tavern is stocked with a full beer menu and pub classics such as fish & chips and burgers. Owner Eytan Sugarman and Chef Ed Syi are insistent on preserving the rich history of the iconic institution - renovating the space while staying true to its intimate atmosphere, and reinventing menu favorites such as the scotch eggs. Sitting in the cozy, dark-wood topped bar, patrons enjoy a pint while reveling in the 80 years of history the tavern has seen. CEO and entrepreneur Gary Vaynerchuck continues this tradition at The White Horse Tavern as he shares the lessons he’s learned as an immigrant achieving the American dream.

Hotel Cafe
Los Angeles, CA.

A hidden entrance. Cheap cocktails. Live music. These just begin to scratch the surface of Hotel Cafe, a wildly cool yet understated live music venue with a full bar. Several years ago, guests could grab a bite to eat before a show, often favoring the European-style grilled paninis, quesadillas, and specialty salads. The now renowned stage has become known for helping to establish the careers of new singer/songwriters who perform there. It’s no wonder, then, that Backstage Capital CEO Arlan Hamilton, with her vision of funding “underestimated founders” chooses a venue also committed to investing in others. Under the dim lights and intimate concert atmosphere, Arlan shares her incredible story and inspired vision for funding minority-owned startups.

JBJ Soul Kitchen
New Jersey

The JBJ Soul Kitchen is unlike most delicious farm-to-table restaurants around, in that it has a mission - it’s a community kitchen working to break the cycle of hunger and poverty. Operating under the Jon Bon Jovi Foundation, the restaurant operates on a pay-it-forward model that gives in-need diners an opportunity to pay for their meal through volunteering at the kitchen. Serving up delicious and hearty three-course meals, anyone is welcome at the kitchen’s several locations in Bon Jovi’s native New Jersey. They’ll be met by an overflowing herb garden, comforting food, and a true sense of community. Over soup, salmon, and blueberry trifle, in the bright and cheerful dining room, rock star Jon and his wife Dorothea explain their mission to offer delicious quality food to the whole community and the truly remarkable impact this can have.

Sandy Island
Anguilla

When you arrive on the soft shores of Sandy Island in Anguilla, a stretch of white sand and a turquoise-roofed restaurant are all that await you. The pristine island has weathered storm after storm, yet continues to rebuild each time, providing authentic Caribbean cuisine and cocktails to anyone lucky enough to find their way to the island. The seafood is freshly caught and prepared into delicacies such as drunken shrimp, coconut lobster, and the famous Caribbean crayfish. No meal is complete without the original Sandy Island Rum Punch or a chat with the hardworking and inventive owner, Simone Connor. At this quintessentially Caribbean island, travel expert and journalist Sarah Greaves-Gaddabon discusses her passion and love for travel and how she made a career as an expert on this particular area of the world. She also touches on travel in a post-Covid world, and how to remain a traveler in these unprecedented times.

Taste of Texas
Houston, TX

At Houston steakhouse Taste of Texas, owners Nina and Edd Hendee believe that the dinner table is the heart of Texan culture. This belief is apparent in the quality of their world renowned steaks, family-like atmosphere among the staff, and the true Texas hospitality that is extended to all guests. Featured in countless magazines and best-restaurant lists, chef Horacio Degante creates an unforgettable culinary experience with his Angus Beef steaks, cold-water lobster tails, and signature Texas specialties. In the unpretentious yet elegant dining room, author Beth Moore shares her journey to becoming a leading influence in evangelical America and her vision for the future.

L’Atelier de Joel Robochon Las Vegas, NV

Stepping inside the sleek red and black interior of L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas sets the stage for a superb dining experience. Referred to as “France’s Chef of the Century,” the restaurant continues to honor Michelin star chef Robuchon through the creative menu that is reminiscent of classical French cuisine with a more dramatic flair. From beef tartare and foie gras to king crab and lobster pasta, dishes are prepared right before diners’ eyes at the bar. It’s no wonder that magician David Copperfield chose such a truly magical restaurant as his favorite in Las Vegas, where he routinely sells out shows night after night. Over an out of this world meal, David discusses how he got started in magic and how he has managed to become one of the most successful magicians of our time.

Osteria Mozza
Hollywood, CA

Energetic, comforting, rustic, upscale. These are just a few of the words to describe renowned Italian eatery Osteria Mozza, located on the iconic Melrose Avenue. While the restaurant is known for their inventive, drool-worthy pastas, diners also praise the meat dishes, burrata, and rosemary olive oil cake. Named “one of the most innovative women in food and drink”, chef and co-owner Nancy Silverton presides over the fine-dining establishment that has become somewhat of a cult favorite among Los Angeles foodies. It is also the favorite of actress Catherine Reitman, who chooses this restaurant to discuss her break into Hollywood and creating and producing her own show. Over a delectable meal, she shares her journey in show business so far, and her advice for anyone trying something new.

The Wave,
Vero Beach, Florida

Grammy award-winning singer Gloria Estefan can add another title to her resume - chic restaurant owner. The Wave is a stunningly decorated restaurant situated in the Costa d’Este Resort in Vero Beach. Designed to emulate the feel of an intimate dinner party, the ambient, tropical feel of the restaurant reflects Gloria’s personal style and taste. Beachside diners tuck into Cuban specialties such as ropa vieja and roasted pork, leaving room for the creamy dulce cheesecake to top off their meal. They might also wander over to the Cabana Bar and order one of the signature mojitos that The Wave is so well known for. Tucked into her regular table, Gloria opens up about her prolific musical career, as well as her role in paving the way for a generation of Latin artists.
